Their only child, Mona Rae Miracle, was born shortly thereafter.ĭuring her pregnancy, Miracle received a letter from her mother Gladys, confirming that she was alive, revealing that she had been hospitalized for several years, and informing Miracle of her half-sister, Norma Jean. Two years later, Berniece attended Pineville High School and married Paris Miracle on October 7, 1938. In 1933, Robert Kermit died from kidney failure at the age of 14. Following Gladys' divorce, Jasper kidnapped the children and raised them in his native Kentucky, disconnected from their mother, who gave birth to her third and final child in 1926, Norma Jean Baker. Her parents, Gladys Pearl Baker (née Monroe, 1902–1984) and Jasper Newton "Jap" Baker (1886–1951), were married in 1917 and had their first child in 1918, older brother Robert Kermit "Jackie" Baker. Berniece Inez Gladys Baker was born in Venice, California in July 1919.
